Why is Paula Abdul on AI?

I don’t understand the value of having a judge that thinks “everyone is a breath of fresh air”. I don’t want to go into how much she drags the show down but this weeks mess up was classic. This was the first week that the contestants were to sing twice. After they sang both their songs the judges were to give their opinion. So half way through the show, meaning after everyone sang once Ryan the shows mediator asked for quick thoughts so far.

Abdul in classic fashion commented on how Jason’s performance went on both songs when he only sang once. I don’t understand how she could have made that mess up? Either she wasn’t paying any attention which I presume she’s paid to do. Or she doesn’t know how to count to two. Either way pretty funny stuff.
