Thoughts on the race

Obama
I just don’t understand the momentum that Barack has achieved. Yes he’s smooth talking and young. What has he accomplished? To further complicate the issue he has this Wright scandal which I believe will end up keeping Obama from the Presidency. Wright has turned out to be a HUGE racist and for Obama to have a 20 year relationship with the guy is unacceptable.

I’ve heard rumblings that things said by Wright is normal in the black church. I hope that’s not true. If it is this country has larger racial issues then I thought.

Hillary
My honest first reaction to the Bosnia shooting rumor was that Hillary just miss spoke about what happened. But now It seems clear that she was intentionally embellishing the truth. I don’t want to come out and call her a liar. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt.

However it’s not the first time something has slipped her mind. Senator Clinton says she has been “a critic of NAFTA from the very beginning.” In fact, newly released White House records indicate that she advocated the 1993 trade agreement.

So there’s a pattern of deceit and convenient absent mindedness that Hillary continues to wear. I guess living with Bill that’s bound to rub off on you.

McCain
McCain confused Sunni & Shiite two weeks ago and the media went nuts. Yes it’s a pretty big mistake. It’s like mixing up China and Japan. But he corrected himself. What McCain did here was not indicative of a long term pattern.

Meanwhile, McCain has been oversees viewing the situation in Iraq first hand. I think that’s big for a few reasons. One he’s showing his undying support for the troops. But more importantly it will be vital to helping him make better judgment calls down the road.

McCain just being republican was left for dead but in light of the recent current events. I have to believe McCain has a better then 50/50 chance at the Presidency. At the end of the day the President has to be able to make sound judgment calls. I honestly think the history of deceit and poor decisions Obama and Clinton bring to the table will be their own undoing.

It’s pretty clear why Obama has gained so much momentum. Many people don’t like the way things are going and they believe he is the man who can turn it around. It’s not just about experience. It’s also about someone who has ideas that resonate with the people and comes off as a leader. One of the reasons Reagan is still so highly regarded was his ability to inspire. Obama has that as well.

My Dad’s a racists, is my relationship with him unacceptable? I also have a good friend, who is a racist, should I just ditch him? And would my relationships with them change your opinions of me? Just curious.

Speaking of racism, I work with guy who is an old-school Democrat, and he told me he has two friends, also Dems who won’t vote for Obama because he’s black. Race is a larger issue in this country than you think. It may not be as prevalent with the younger generation, but there are still plenty of people around who lived through the segregation of the South.

As for Hillary, I’ll vote for McCain before I vote for Hillary. At a time when we need someone to bring the country together, there is no more divisive figure than Hillary Clinton. I read somewhere recently that Hillary feels she’s entitled to the presidency because she’s a Clinton and I honestly think she a Bill feel that way and they’ll do every thing they can to win. It’s time for her to bow out although most Republicans hope she stays for the reasons I stated above.

Yes, and the media didn’t go nuts over the whole Rev. White thing did they? That’s a pretty big gaff on John’s part, a guy who is supposed to be experienced in this stuff. And it was Lieberman who corrected him, he didn’t correct himself. And at age 72 I’m not sure this is going to get much better.

I guess he’s been listening to Dick Chaney too long. :D

No doood don’t ditch your pops. That relationship is a little different then a relationship with a priest, pastor, or teacher.

Actually in Old Testament times priests would wear a piece of clothing called the “yoke”. It had all their basic beliefs on their yoke. That way people could follow the priests who theology matched up best with theirs.

Which kind of puts a twist on 2 Corinthians 6:14 “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?”

But that is a topic for another day.

The point is even back in old testament days if you didn’t believe everything your priest believed you were able to leave him to find a priest that was equally yoked with you. Obama didn’t stay at that church for 20 years just for the hell of it.

After talking to some relatives at a party this weekend 3 things were clear. 1. Avoid jury duty at all costs (which is wrong IMO) 2. If you get pulled over pretend you have to take a massive dump. (lol… which I’ll have to share with the class later). And 3. the US needs CHANGE at any cost including voting in an inexperienced candidate who wants to tax us the most despite being in a recession which Bernanke (fed chairman) said we’re heading into today.

I don’t know about you but more money in my pocket, me thinks is a good thing.

Since Obama won’t be raising taxes on the lower and middle class you’ll have more money in your pocket, don’t worry.

This is from a man who is getting his Masters in Christian communications at a Baptist university.

    A very good read.
