SWG: Greatest Game Ruined

Star Wars Galaxies was the greatest game created. Lucas Arts did an incredible job recreating the Star Wars story line to be lived out. This video shows just how far computer games have come. Each person in the video is an actual person playing the game. Literally 100’s of thousands of people would be playing this game at the same time interacting with each other. It was an amazing game until Sony Online Entertainment got their dirty hands on it.

I guess since it takes such computing power to drive a game that has so many people playing simultaneously Lucas Arts had to hire out Sony Online Entertainment for their servers. SOE made so many changes to the game they ruined it. When I finally walked away from the game I sold my character for $650.00! Yep 650$ that’s not a typo.

I didn’t make Jedi nor did I try. I did have force sensitivity. I had probably the 10th best weapon of my class in the galaxy and probably the best armor. I could take down jedi’s or pretty much any other creature I ran across. I had 300 million credits which would allow me to purchase anything I wanted. Then SOE changed the game so that my armor, weapons, source of income where all gone in a matter of 1 days patch. I’m not bitter at all :(
