Saddam ends hunger strike after missing one meal

SaddamBAGHDAD (Reuters) - Saddam Hussein ended a brief hunger strike after missing just one meal in his U.S.-run prison, a U.S. military spokesman said Friday.
The former Iraqi leader had refused lunch Thursday in protest at the killing of one of his lawyers by gunmen, but the spokesman said he ate his evening meal.

Former Saddam aides being held in the same prison had refused to eat three meals since Wednesday evening but ended their fast with the ex-president.

“They all took their dinner meal,” the spokesman told Reuters.

Saddam is on trial for crimes against humanity for his role in the 1982 killing of 148 Shi’ites in Dujail. His lead counsel, Khalil al-Dulaimi, has blamed pro-government Shi’ite militias for the murder of his deputy Khamis al-Obaidi Wednesday.

They should make this coward eat dirt! I think they should put him on display in the Bagdad zoo. George Bush would be smart to talk about him more so that other leaders understand the consequences of what happens when you mess with us!

What does missing one meal accomplish? I realize it was a lawyer that got killed, but missing lunch doesn’t really make a point. That would be like me purposely missing brunch because Johnny Cochran died! It just goes to show you what a tremendous boob Hussein is. By the way, I love the zoo idea, Gary G. Imagine a, “Saddam in the rainforest” exhibit; you could watch Saddam preen monkeys, climb trees, and mate with a yak!

Hello again, Chubby. Yeah his commitment to his hunger strike was about as weak as his commitment to his people! I like your idea about the zoo, but I think it’s inappropriate to talk about something like beastiality. By the way, I feel like I’m getting to know people here. Where’s everyone from? I live in god’s country (lower northern MI, not the UP).

Gary, Beastiality would assume that either Saddam or the yak were ACTUALLY human! LOL! God Bless America!

I agree, what does missing a meal accomplish except
getting more attention. Who really cares anyway?
Yes, its sad that a lawyer got shot. What a waste of
    journalism for reporting this.
