Pre-Pre NFL Predictions

The NFL’s in my blood. It’s mack daddy of sports. Every year new teams rise to the top to compete for the Superbowl. Fantasy football is a blast. NFL players are modern day gladiators.

Last year before the season started I predicted Indy & Carolina in the Superbowl. Boy was I close. I’m proud I was only 3 victories away from making the call six months in advance. My early prediction for next years Superbowl will be the winner of the Panthers vs. Bears in the NFC Championship.

Carolina PanthersVS.Chicago Bears

The Panthers just picked up Key Johnson and that’s the edge the Panthers needed. How dangerous will Steve Smith be with a legit #2 WR? The only way the Bears go to the Superbowl is if Rex Grossman has a career year. If he throws the pigskin like he did against Carolina in the ‘05 playoffs the Bears will be tough. I’m already a huge fan of RB Thomas Jones. TJ is a stud and undervalued. I’m curious if Cedric Benson will amount to anything. I hope so. For the record I wanted the Bears to Draft Mike Williams last year. I hope the Bears take a tight end #1 this year.

In the AFC championship game the Colts take on the Bengals.

Indianapolis ColtsVS.Cincinnati Bengals

Indy lost Edgerine to the Cardinals a month ago and that will hurt. Peyton being the focus of every defense in the NFL, it’s possible a no name back will be able to successfully carry the rock. The Bengals were a surprise team last year. Their road might be tougher this year. Their high powered offense should continue to click. If the defense steps up Cincinnati could go to the big dance.

Teams on the rise: Miami, Arizona, Oakland, Dallas
Team on the decline: San Diego, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville
