Our Climbing Monkey
Brandon has gone extreme with his climbing. He has always loved to climb the tree in our backyard. Now he is climbing up the tree and onto our shed. A couple weeks ago our playgroup met at Pirate’s Cove for a playdate. Brandon could not resist taking advantage of their climbing wall. This was the first time Brandon did this type of repelling and he loved it. Here’s a couple photos. More updated pics are in our meaninglis photo album.

An International Night Out

I had a fantastic birthday weekend. Brian surprised me with a night out in the city. We first went to Carnivale, a new restaurant for us. They specialize in Latin culture and flavors from all over Central America. The food was very good and full of flavor. My Arrachera, skirt steak was the best I have ever had. The atmosphere was fun and colorful. Brian then took me to Navy Pier where we saw Cirque Shanghai in the Skyline theatre. www.navypier.com/cirqueshanghai/. Cirque Shanghai is a Chinese style “Cirque” with acrobats direct from China. It was a fun and memorable night. We had fantastic weather for walking through the city. Posted by Anastasia

Lou’s Daily Affirmations
Something I Don’t Get
I watched the Chronicles of Narnia with Brandon the other day. We followed it up with the sequel Prince Caspian. Both entertaining but hardly “spiritual”. The author C.S. Lewis, is largely regarded as one of the pillars of Christian theology. Lewis wrote the Narnia series. Therefore many well meaning Christians give Narina a pass. It must be ok for C.S.Lewis wrote it. Yet the Christian community had a huge out cry about the Harry Potter movies.
Both movies share similar themes. Both had elements of witchcraft and sorcery. It’s a little hypocritical to endorse one but not the other IMO. If you hold hard to the legalistic view of keeping magic away from children, fine. Then keep your kids away from Chronicles of Narnia. When ready to teach your children discernment about what’s real and what’s magical then don’t “villainize” Harry Potter because it’s not authored by C.S. Lewis.
