Fox News: Fair and Balanced

I’ll admit I’m a Fox News junkie. Mostly just the general news related shows. I don’t follow O’Reilly so much or other shows like that. Here’s what I’m finding myself question these days. Is Fox News really balanced?

Lately it seems Fox has been less pro McCain or pro Obama, Fox has been more attack Obama. Even Obama said “Fox News is costing me 2-3 points in the polls”. I actually found that hilarious if he’s bothered by the one and ONLY cable news outlet that reports all sides of the story. If Obama is miffed about a news outlet how’s he going to handle bigger issues?

That’s not the question though. Is Fox being fair to Obama or are the other news outlets just not covering the full story?

One example from today coverage was about the NRA starting a multi-million dollar campaign against Obama because he claims to be pro-gun protection laws. Yet his Illinois voting record speaks to Obama voting some 16 times against gun protection right issues. Fox was quick to point out the discrepancy in Obama’s voting record (the attack) but had on both an Obama and NRA representative (fair and balanced) to debate the story.

It’s subtle that Fox points out things like this. You’ll never see such stories on CNN or MSNBC. So I ask you, is Fox being “fair and balanced” or are they just like the other media sources trying to play the roll of king maker?

    Haven’t been on your site in awhile! Hope all is well in your world…..

    As for your post….how can you even contemplate looking at FOX as fair and balanced? They have been a horrible source for information for a very long time now….I’m not sure who you watch on a regular basis, but they’re all garbage.

    I actually had respect for FOX during the Clinton years….they played the role I think the press should, as watch dogs. I do believe that the press is a check and balance. But then Bush/Cheney got into office and they didn’t look into anything. Zippo…nada. And now, I turn it on now and they’re back to their watchdog role again. I know how the next 4 years will be on FOX, they will play the watch dog role and pick at anything they can.

    You know what really sucks about the last 8 years? Now the Dems are close to the magic number of 60 in the Senate….and let me be clear, the Dems, if you give them enough power and no oversight, will be just as dirty and corrupt as the Repubs. Now they will control all branches, we need the branches to be able to check each other against abuse.

    I really hope the GOP loses it’s current leadership and can get back to the days before Reagan…all about fiscal responsibility and making sure that government programs are run properly with limited waste. If they don’t…2010 and 2012 will be election cycles in which the Dems gain more seats in both the Senate and House. Which when one party gains too much clout and power….well, we see what that can do to the country and the world.

    As for watching just FOX, turn off the tube and open a book…..the TV news cycle is filled with soundbites and blowhards who don’t know much about anything. This isn’t just FOX but CNN, MSNBC…..etc.
