Fire Angelo!
Jerry Angelo and the Bears act like they’ve won the Superbowl with a dynasty team. I don’t understand how the Bears improved their team today. The Bears finished the season last year with the 2nd best overall defense and 1st in points allowed. Yet the offense ranked 28th.
So what have the Bears done in the off season to improve their offense? Signed a very capable BACK-UP QB! (Brian Griese)
Angelo needs to go to the school of Kenny Williams who did in fact win a championship. The World Champion White Sox did not stay satisfied with the make up of their championship team. Kenny Williams made some great decisions and made the team better. Not with just one blockbuster move either. He did it by changing 25% of the teams’ roster.
I hate the probability that the Bears will make the playoffs again this year despite an inept front office. How hard will it be for the Bears, returning all 22 starters & leagues best defense, to beat Minnesota, Green Bay, and Detroit? All three division rivals have new head coaches. Detroit & Minnesota have new QBs and Green Bay has a old crusty one.
It’s just pathetic that the Bears are happy to be dominating their division and not considering Washington, NY Giants, Dallas, and Carolina their main competition. All four of these teams have made major signings in the off season. Not to mention they were not arrogant enough to trade away their #1 draft pick and then draft a division 2 player with their first pick.
The only way the offense improves is if Rex Grossman doesn’t spend a minute on the DL, which he’s spent 2 of his 3 years on, and if Cedric Benson can significantly out play Thomas Jones. Thomas Jones was the 9th best RB in the league last year (1300+ yards in 15 games). If Benson can’t carry the rock for more then 1,500 yards I’d consider him another Angelo failure.
I just figured out Angelo’s draft philosophy… draft players at positions you’re already good at.

hi brian–
i believe -i told you so -a well back-the bears drafting secondary help first–remmember that gm came
from tampa and defense was first and piling up draft
picks second– more bodies at training came–look at
tampa s offense back when angloe was there -very week
again very bad draft—this year–
Wow excellent point. We are a mirror image of those defensively strong Tampa teams. Great point!
I also think that it’s cheaper to pay for a good defense then a good offense. Offensive players demand much more coinage.
Well at least Tampa won one Superbowl with those teams. Hope that’s in our future too. Even if it’s in spite of the front office.
I think Grossman is in a contract year. It will be interesting if he puts up big numbers to see if the Bears pay him market rate.
great comeback–you pass well—
yes –cheaper-cheaper to spend on the big D than
offense also the best d can make up for a fumbling
3 and out offensive co-ordinator—-will a 9 and
7/10and6 finish first round and out make your –
day?—–
