Fun Weekend

We had a lot of fun Friday night at the Sox’s game (they won). The group of friends we went with did some tail-gating so we met up with them. Sunday we ended up going to Chinatown for their summer street fest. The kids saw the Chinese dragon come down the street and they had a martial arts presentation that the kids loved. Brandon would not stop karate chopping all afternoon.

Brandon is enjoying his VBS. The one last week was really small and he was getting a lot of attention. This week at Medinah there are a ton of kids and they probably shouldn’t have as many preschoolers together in such a small room. It seems to be going okay but I’m not sure if Brandon is feeling overwhelmed.

OH! I almost forgot… Brandon did some swimming on his own without floaties. I could not believe it. Just a couple weeks ago he would not let go of us or the side of the pool. All that the neighbors heard was screaming coming from our house.

An International Night Out

Carnivale
I had a fantastic birthday weekend. Brian surprised me with a night out in the city. We first went to Carnivale, a new restaurant for us. They specialize in Latin culture and flavors from all over Central America. The food was very good and full of flavor. My Arrachera, skirt steak was the best I have ever had. The atmosphere was fun and colorful. Brian then took me to Navy Pier where we saw Cirque Shanghai in the Skyline theatre. www.navypier.com/cirqueshanghai/. Cirque Shanghai is a Chinese style “Cirque” with acrobats direct from China. It was a fun and memorable night. We had fantastic weather for walking through the city. Posted by Anastasia

Celebration of Hope 08’

Tonight Brian and I spent some time volunteering with Feed My Starving Children. We packed meals that would help feed children in over 50 countries. It was a great and rewarding experience. Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) invites volunteers of all ages to hand-pack meals for starving children. You can even plan your child’s next birthday party there and teach your children the importance of giving, serving and having compassion for others.

Willow Creek Community Church has been our home church for many years now. Over the last several weeks, the churches focus was Celebration of Hope 08’ Hunger. We were given the opportunity to participate in a number of challenges. Limiting our consumption (LIST), packing meals for others and experiencing a fair trade market. During the Mother’s day service, we will be able to offer our savings from our limited consumption use to raise money to feed over 10,000 children in Zimbabwe.

If you would also like to be a part of this experience and make a onetime gift, you can do so by CLICKING HERE and going to the church website.

Another cousin!

James Burger Jr.That’s what we told Brandon and Nathan when we told them that their Auntie JoJo had a baby boy. James Burger Jr. was born Friday morning at 8:45am (6lbs 7oz, 21inches long). Mom and baby are doing well and everyone is very excited about the new addition.
