Unicorns
[Isaiah 34:7] “And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.”
[Deuteronomy 33:17] “His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.”
What in the world ?!? Did you know that Unicorns are mentioned in the Bible? The unicorn is also mentioned in Numbers 23:22 and 24:8; Psalm 22:21, 29:6 and 92:10. Funny thing is that they’re only mention in the King James Version (which many deeply conservative Christians refer to the “correct” version of the Bible)
Basically the unicorn is a translation issue that the authors of the KJV added into the Bible. Weird isn’t it? Here’s a full explanation.

Dragons
[Psalms 91:13] “Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.”
[Isaiah 35:7] “And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.”
[Revelation 12:1-2] “And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.”

The Talking Donkey
[Numbers 22:28-30] Then the LORD opened the donkey’s mouth, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?” Balaam answered the donkey, “You have made a fool of me! If I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now.” The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?” “No,” he said.
Funny I never heard/read this story until just a couple years ago. In 20 years of studying the Bible, I don’t know how I ever missed this story. It even seems to be in some children’s books.
Here’s a pretty good explanation of the full story.

Talking Snake
[Genesis 3:1-5] Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ”
“You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
A very familiar verse. Kinda funny that Satin comes in the form of an animal. Lots of animals play big roles in the Bible. I’ll be pointing out more animal stories this week.
The story of Adam & Eve is so cool to me because it goes back to the basic reason why man was created. To live with God. To live in community with Him. God’s plan is prefect and he could have made us robots that follow a set of rules. Following a set of rules doesn’t demonstrate the greatest characteristic, love. He allows us a choice to follow & love Him just as Adam & Eve did.
I heard this weekend someone say the opposite of love is not hate, it’s empathy. I would suggest the opposite of love is selfishness.
Christ said in Matthew 22:37-39 ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

Sun Stood Still
[Joshua 10:12-14] On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”
So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a man.”
What?!? Ah how did this happen? The Earth could not have stopped spinning to keep the Sun in place. The only reasonable explanation is the sun rotated with the Earth for a few hours. How crazy is that? It’s a very cool story about how God listens to our prayers.
