Have a bunch of broken crayons in the house? We did! I just did this project with Brandon for Valentine’s Day and he really liked it. You will need to do a little prep beforehand.

What you’ll need:
• Old Crayons
• Wax paper
• Black Marker
• Iron and Ironing board
• Scissors
• Hole puncher
I grated the old and broken crayons and place the colors in different ziploc bags. Take a large sheet of wax paper and fold it in half. The kids can add colors to one side making whatever design they want. Don’t be too liberal. A little bit goes a long way. Fold the other half of the wax paper over the crayon bits. Cover with a sheet of newspaper and iron on low heat (do not slide iron, only press to melt crayons). After melting the wax, I traced a heart and Brandon (getting really good at his scissor skills) cut it out. I punched a hole and tied on a piece of yarn to hang from the window. Brandon and Nathan really liked the end result.
• Also good for different seasons and holidays (pumpkins, flowers, stars) or maybe ornaments for the tree.
Enjoy! Anastasia

NY Times…

Here’s what I learned this week about the presidential candidates.

McCain when was attacked by the Times took the situation head on. He even got his wife speaking on the topic. Within literally hours McCain addressed the concerns the Times poorly credited article.

When Michelle Obama said she was “finally proud of her country” did her husband address it right away? Did Michelle even clarify her point? No, they had their advisers handle it.

Next conflict…
Health Care
Iraq
US Poverty
etc etc etc

Who’s going to handle the issues? The guy who gets to the point? Or the guy who can hardly defend his own wife?
