Evolution vs. Creation

Here’s a couple things to consider.

1. Patterns vs. Design
Here are some natural occurring patterns
a.Tornados & Hurricanes: hot air + cold air + moisture + time.
b.Snowflakes: water + cold air + gravity + wind + time.
Here are some examples of design
a.Music: sheet music is symbolic representation. A four piece band playing that music is implementation.
b.Microsoft Windows: 100010010’s are a symbolic representation. Your actual desktop is the implementation.

Patterns come from chaos, simple matter + energy, and require no thought. Design is based on CODE, matter + energy + information, requires thought. How does DNA work? It’s a double helix that consists of two strands with sections of Adenine, Thymine, Guanine, and Cytosine. DNA determines from 500,000 to 3 billion combinations. It encodes all the information of life.

Is DNA a Pattern or a Language? DNA, referred as genetic code, molecules symbolically represent something other then itself.

Which is DNA more like?
Stalactites, tornados, snowflakes, and fractals
OR
Music, maps, computer programs, and Chinese (the language)

Where do codes come from? Patterns like snowflakes & hurricanes happen naturally. Random process does not create codes. No one has ever discovered a code that was not ultimately designed by someone.

2. Extinction vs. Evolution
Random mutation + natural selection + time = Extinction

Naturalistic evolution is the only instance where the word “evolution” refers to a truly random, blind process. All other forms of evolution come from adaptation. Adaptation is chaos resolved by intent (which requires a mind) or by survival. If evolution happened, it was designed to happen.

The mere existence of time does not guarantee evolution. It’s more likely the existence of time creates extinction. Here’s the atheists riddle, “Show me a language that does not come from the mind”. There is no code that doesn’t come from a mind.

Bush on Bush

Wow I missed my first day in 45 or so days of this website’s existence. I hope you survived without me. I have a little reward for your patience. Sinise, A Hero.

Most of the time Hollywood celebrities and politics make for a train wreck. This time one of the Hollywood elites got it right. Gary Sinise co-founded “Operation Iraqi Children”, that provides Iraqi children with school supplies. Supplies are donated to a central location, Kansas City, and shipped to Iraq. Children who are trained to hate the US and are brainwashed to blow themselves up receive the aid from American troops and Iraqi policemen.

I heard Gary on the radio this week tell of story after story about how something as simple as school supplies made a difference in children’s lives and attitudes.

There are four ways to help the Iraqi children
1. Donate Money to Support the Program
2. Organize a School Supply Kit drive in your community
3. Volunteer in Kansas City at the OIC Warehouse
4. Check out Gary’s band, Lt. Dan Band at a fundraising concert at Cantigny Park Parade Grounds. 8 pm on July 22, 2006 at 1S151 Winfield Road, in Wheaton, IL (directions) Prices are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Advance purchase of tickets is available and may be purchased online or by phone at 800-594-TIXX (8499) Monday thru Friday. I plan on going, hope to see you there!

If you’re not sure this organization is worth your effort read the testimonies of US solders. Here’s a real tangible way to make a difference in the world. The question is, are you going to get off your comfortable computer chair and do something that elevates your soul from ordinary to extraordinary?

Jobs Americans Won’t Do?

Advocates for undocumented workers have a habit of saying that immigrants contribute to the economy. This is only partially true. It’s actually mostly false, but nobody ever calls them on it.

This is the problem:

Let’s say you’ve got a guy in a service industry. Let’s just say he’s a construction worker. A well paying union job with benefits when filled by a citizen.

Now some illegal day laborer comes along, displaces the previous construction worker, and does the same job for not only less pay, but doesn’t get benefits.

Here’s where the math comes in:

Where there was once one well paid individual, you now have one poorly paid individual and one unemployed individual. You have less money being spread over twice as many people, so the per capita income drops.

It gets worse. Since the illegal day laborer doesn’t have a green card or a social security number, he doesn’t pay any taxes beyond what a retailer adds when he buys food, toilet paper, whatever. No property taxes, no income taxes. So the contribution back into community services, such as fire, police, hospitals, roads, and schools for these two people is reduced. All funding for these government services then also must be reduced because of the reduced tax base.

Even worse, the former construction worker now relies on support from the government in order to get by, which doesn’t have as much money because not as much money is coming in via taxes.

And still it gets worse. Money that the original construction worker would have spent in the community doesn’t stay in the community as the illegal day laborer will send a portion of his earnings out of the country to his family back home.

Just to add insult to injury, if either of these two have to go to the hospital, think about how that helps the economy too.

And finally, guess who gets stuck with the tab for this illegal immigrant, and multiply that for each and every undocumented worker.

That’s right. Legal immigrants and Citizens. Legal immigrants and citizens bear the brunt of the costs in higher taxes, reduced services, and fewer available jobs, which reduces our per capita income.

Oh and one last thing. in this example, a construction worker was displaced which means there’s one last effect. Unions get weaker as their members get displaced.

You Give God a Bad Name

This pisses me off. This whack job is just fueling the “uncompassionate judgmental Christian” fire.

I know some people better than me would say “Lis, you’ve got to pray for her”. I’m just not that mature… maybe you are.
