Eye of God
This is a real photograph of the Helix Nebula, although it’s technically not a single photograph but rather a composite image formed from several photographs taken by NASA’s orbiting Hubble Space Telescope and a land-based telescope at the Kitt Peak National Observatory near Tucson, Arizona. This image was NASA’s “Astronomy Picture of the Day” for 10 May 2003.
The picture’s “Eye of God” appellation is a title coined by an admirer of the photo due to the nebula’s resemblance to a human eye, not something designated by NASA. The nebula is also visible all the time, not merely “once in 3000 years.”

Gay Jesus?
The March edition of the Insurgent ran one of the strongest attacks on Christianity I have seen. The paper ran graphics depicting Jesus as a homosexual. One was a depiction of a naked Jesus on the cross with an erection; the other, titled Resurrection, showed a naked Jesus kissing another naked man, both sporting erections.
Sample Pictures: Warning images are disturbing.
When asked for an apology by Students of Faith, ASUO refused to give one saying that “there are no grounds for demanding an apology from Insurgent.” The ASUO went on to defend the publication saying that the newspaper contributes “to the cultural and physical development of the university community.”
The ASUO Women’s Center tolerates no defamation against gays and lesbians. Three years ago, ASUO demanded that the university radio station, KUGN, drop Michael Savage (a conservative talk show host). The university promptly discontinued the program. But depicting Jesus as a homosexual is perfectly OK.
Here is what Insurgent Student Editor Jessica Brown had to say about the graphics. “I have to say it is really fun to offend people. It is fun to break the rules. If it pisses people off…good that’s the point!!! It has here in this office. So read, get pissed and talk about it.”
Well it pisses me off, not the misunderstanding of who Jesus was but more so the hypocrisy of the American people. Since when did tolerance become a good thing? If you tolerate everything you stand for NOTHING. If this artwork depicted Allah as a homosexual both the artist and student editor would be living in fear of losing their lives.
Incidentally, the University forces all students, including Christians, to pay student dues of $191.00 per term, part of which goes to support the Insurgent. But offending Christians was of no concern to the Insurgent or to University President Dave Frohmayer
Instead of rioting or killing people you can voice your opinion to the Oregon Governor since Oregon University is supporting the student newspaper.

Powerful Picture

This was found in his diary,
Dear God, I promise I will never waste my food no matter how bad it can taste and how full I may be. I pray that He will protect this little boy, guide and deliver him away from his misery. I pray that we will be more sensitive towards the world around us and not be blinded by our own selfish nature and interests.
I hope this picture will always serve as a reminder to us that how fortunate we are and that we must never ever take things for granted.

Pork
Warning: The following content can induce vomiting.
What’s killing the American people? In one word it’s PORK. Not the three little pigs. It’s the pigs we’ve elected to office. Pork is known as frivolous government spending. Here’s what constitutes frivolous.
• Requested by only one chamber of Congress;
• Not specifically authorized;
• Not competitively awarded;
• Not requested by the President;
• Greatly exceeds the President’s budget request or the previous year’s funding;
• Not the subject of congressional hearings; or
• Serves only a local or special interest.
Here are some examples of Pork for 2006 (only): $13,500,000 for the International Fund for Ireland, which helped finance the World Toilet Summit; $6,435,000 for wood utilization research; $1,000,000 for the Waterfree Urinal Conservation Initiative; and $500,000 for the Sparta Teapot Museum in Sparta, N.C. This years cost of pork is $3.4 billion resulting from 375 projects.
By passing pork-laden appropriations bills and by not vetoing a single spending bill, Congress and the President of the United States have respectively failed the American taxpayer. While the ramifications of these failures may not be completely visible today, they surely will be when future generations will be strangled with increasing debt.
